Privacy Policy for Reefin
At Reefin, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This
Privacy Policy explains how information is handled by the Reefin
Android application (the "App"). Our core principle is
simple: We do not collect or store any personal data on our
servers, but we do facilitate user-initiated, direct connections
to your personal servers and optional third-party services.
1. Data Collection by App Developer (SKULSHADY)
The Reefin App does not collect, store, transmit, or process
any personal user data or media usage statistics to the
developer (SKULSHADY) or any related servers. This includes,
but is not limited to:
-
Your name, email address, or any other personally
identifiable information.
-
Usage data (e.g., what content you watch, how often you use
the app).
-
Device identifiers (e.g., IP address, device ID, operating
system version).
- Location data or analytics data.
The App may use locally-stored information (e.g., playback resume
points for local files, UI settings) solely on your device to
provide app functionality.
2. Third-Party Interactions & Data Sharing
The primary functions of the Reefin App involve direct,
user-initiated communication with servers that you, the user,
control or configure.
2.1. Jellyfin Server (User-Controlled)
The App functions as a client for your self-hosted Jellyfin
media server.
-
Information Handled: All your media content,
server settings, user credentials, and playback history are
managed, stored, and processed exclusively by your own
Jellyfin server.
-
Data Flow: Data transmission is direct
between your device and your Jellyfin server. Reefin's
developers do not have access to or process this data.
2.2. The Movie Database (TMDB) API (User-Configured)
The App includes an optional feature to enrich your media
library with external information (ratings, reviews, etc.) by
connecting to The Movie Database (TMDB). This feature requires
you to voluntarily provide your own TMDB API Key.
-
User Data Shared: When this feature is
enabled, your user-provided TMDB API Key and information
about the media item (e.g., media title, unique media ID, or
search query) are sent directly to the TMDB server.
-
Purpose: This data is sent solely to
retrieve external movie/show metadata for display within the
App, as requested by the user.
-
Disclaimer: This data is shared at your
discretion. We are not responsible for the privacy practices
or policies of TMDB. You are advised to review TMDB's terms
and policies regarding data handling.
3. Permissions and Device Access
The Reefin App requests permissions solely to enable the features
promoted in the app and does not use these permissions for data
collection by the developer.
-
Network Access: Required to connect to your
Jellyfin server and the optional TMDB API.
-
Media/Storage Access: Used exclusively for
the Local Playback Mode to browse, read, and play video
and audio files from your device's internal and external
storage. This access is limited to media files and the user's
explicitly selected folders (when using the file browser
feature).
-
Foreground Service / Media Control: Required
to enable Background Playback, display the system
playback notification, and allow media control via system
widgets or physical accessories (e.g., headphones, car
controls).
4. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect
changes in functionality or legal requirements. We will notify
you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this
page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically
for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective
when they are posted on this page.
